Tips for having a Golden Retriever

If you are someone that has a golden retriever, you know that there is a lot to do when you have one of these dogs.

If you have or are thing about getting a golden retriever, you should be prepared to spend a long time with it.  There usually life span is around ten to fifteen years.  This is a lot of time to spend with a dog.  You will have many years to get to know each other and eventually become friends.

You want to make sure that a golden retriever has a good exercise schedule too. You want to get them out and running whenever possible.  This will help them to have a better form so that they can keep their great looking tone and body shape.  You will be able to keep your dog healthy and with you for a longer time. 

Remember that your golden retriever will probably love water as most of them do.  You should let them jump into the water when they want to and let them get their feet wet. This is a great way for them to have fun and express their swimming skills to you at the same time. 

You will want to have a good vacuum at home because golden retrievers are know for their shedding.  They will usually shed all year long so you need to be prepared to vacuum up the hair at least once a day. This will help to eliminate allergies to the hair and dander that is left behind for you and anyone who enters your home.  You will want to vacuum up the upholstery once a week or so as well.  This will help to eliminate too much hair gathering on your furniture.  Even if the dog is not allowed on the upholstery, the hair will find its way there somehow.
