This can make significant improvements if they are interacting with animals.

Most psychiatrists and other psychotherapists use specially trained animals to overcome mental illness of a patient if traditional way was failed. They can also use a variety of pets in therapy session to help patients meet specific treatment goals such as increased social interaction and decreased aggression.

There are people who don't respond because maybe they have no frame of reference or aren't curious about animals. Another reason is maybe that animal has no convincing power to get the attention of that patient. We all know that not every animal is a good contestant in therapy session. So we must select the animal that is a good candidate for AAT.
