How to train your Golden
Retriever
When you have a golden retriever, you are going to want the dog
to be well trained
so that you can have more fun and excitement with him or
her.
You can train your dog yourself or you may want to take the dog
to a professional. Either way, you will have a well-behaved
dog when you are finished getting the training that you want for
them.
You can enroll your golden retriever in a basic obedience class
to have them taught the essential tools that they are going to need
in order to be more obedient and fun for you and your family.
These classes will teach them their normal commands like sit, stay
and roll over.
If you are going to teach your golden retriever these commands
yourself, you may want to keep in mind a few things. When you
are teaching them a command and they follow, you should follow up
the good behavior with a doggy treat or a nice comment to
them. This will make them feel good and understand better
that they are doing something right. You may even want to
reward them when they are at least attempting to do the right
command when you are ordering it. This will give them
incentive to do better.
You should increase your demands at a slow pace. Give your
dog praise in between their good deeds so that they can comprehend
that they are doing, as they should be. You can move on to
some other commands once you think that your dog is comfortable
with what you have been previously teaching them. This will
give the dog time to soak in the commands and what they are
supposed to be doing.
You should keep the training up all throughout the day.
You will want to give them commands at different times and not all
at once. You can spend a few minutes each day showing them
something different or working on a command that they are have
already learned.
Show off what your golden retriever has learned. Let your
friends and family see the progress that you have made. They
will be impressed with the accomplishments that you have made with
your dog and you will feel good about your ability to train
them.
Once your dog seems to be learning the commands better, you may
want to limit the amount of treats that you give them. This
will give them more drive to do better at the commands that you
give and for them to do a more impressive job at them. You
should also always use the same words and body language when you
are talking to them. You do not want to confuse your dog by
changing the words or the voice on them all the time.
Remember to be patient and have fun teaching your golden
retriever commands. Let them know that you are their friend
and that you love them. Show them affection on a regular
basis and this will keep them motivated to learn and do more
exciting and interesting tricks for you.
