Golden retriever puppy house
training
Every new owner trains their dog with the same excitement as for
their child.
Most people will train their dog to go outside inside of crate
training. If you use the proper technique, you can train you
retriever quickly and it won't be a big ordeal for the dog.
Retrievers need to go to the bathroom a lot. Every time they wake
up, drink, sometimes during play sessions, and about year two
hours.
Right after eating in the morning or evening, they will need to
go to the bathroom as well. If you don't train your pup, they will
go where ever and whenever the urge strikes them. They normally
won't go where they sleep so you can use their sleep area to teach
them how to hold it. Every time you take them out of their crate or
kennel, you need to go directly outside first.
When the dog starts to go you should praise it by saying good
job in a happy and excited voice. The great thing about retrievers
is the fact that they respond well to praise. In fact, retrievers
will do anything to make their master's happy. The pup will notice
the difference between your praise and your unhappiness. They will
figure it out when you scold them for going inside. All you
have to do is tell them no in a firm voice and then take the puppy
immediately outside.
Housetraining can be very difficult. You have to stay committed
to the training and you have to learn to form some patience. It
shouldn't be difficult to housetrain a retriever because they are
extremely smart, but it does require consistency and persistency.
You need to show them understanding, kindness, and praise. This is
what most animals need when housetraining.
The thing with retrievers is the fact that they are eager to do
anything for their masters. They want your approval and love. They
will quickly stop going in the house the moment that you make them
aware that you are disappointed. You can give them a look and in a
firm voice tell them no.
However, you will notice that sometimes they will go in the
house even though they have been successfully trained. If a few
mishaps happen, start to look at what changed. Retrievers need to
be around people and they need to play. If you suddenly stop
playing and paying attention to them, they will revolt. Negative
attention, to them, is at least attention. They are not a breed
that can be left alone in a house for hours. They are prone to tear
up the house is dissatisfied and sometimes it can be helpful to
have a dog setter.
