Golden retriever information

The golden retriever has become a popular pet for those who need a companion or a family pet.

They are a beautiful creature that are well proportioned and has medium golden hair. Their hair color varies from a light cream to a golden color. Their coat is not to have red in it. The undercoat has a water repellent quality and their undercoat is thick. Their head is broad and wide. They have powerful muzzles.

Their bite is like a scissors bite. Their nose is always black and their eyes usually are brown or very dark, almost black. As for their ears, they are quite power, but small. Their necks and legs are very muscular and the chest is broad. They almost have a prestige look to them. They love to wag their tail when they get excited.

The reason why they are perfect dogs is because they love children. They will protect the family. Retrievers are very well mannered and can be trained easily. They are mostly patient and are very loyal. If the dog had to protect its family, the dog will attack if they believe that someone is in harm, but are friendly to strangers. This is an outstanding breed of dog.

They love to please their masters. In fact, they will do anything to get approval and love. Retrievers have to be around people. They need the attention; they need someone to play with. They are very playful and love games. If you were to leave a retriever alone for a long period, they will become nosy and tend to mess the house up.  You can easily train your dog to hunt or track game. They will also be eager to perform tricks like swimming. Retrievers love the water.

As for heights, they can get up to two feet and weigh somewhere between 60-80 pounds. They are considered a medium size dog. However, they are more for in the house people they need the human interaction.

If you are planning on getting a retriever, make sure you have the room. Apartments are sufficient, but you have to take these types of dogs out so they can run. They don't have too many health problems, other than they are prone to have skin allergies. This can be controlled easily. They can dislocate their hips easily and after years and years of age, they are prone to go blind. They can live up to ten years, but most of the time will live much longer.

As for the care of this breed, you will need to make sure that they get plenty of exercise. They love to play ball or frisby. They tend to put on weight. Dogs only need to be feed twice a day with a snack. You will need to brush their hair everyday, paying special attention to their belly and chest. This is the area with the thickest hair. Bathe whenever it is necessary, but if they walk in the rain and their paws are dirty, just clean their paws.
