Dog food, what not to feed
There are a lot of things that you should not feed your dog
because they can be potentially dangerous
to your pup's health.
Dogs are normally scavengers, so you have to watch what they get
into. One of the most dangerous things to give a dog is chocolate.
Chocolate has recently been found good for the human soul, but for
dogs, it can be lethal. The type of breed will react differently to
chocolate.
The reason why it is so dangerous is because it contains
chemicals called Methylxanthine alkaloids. In small amounts, it
will constrict the arteries and their heart rate will increase. If
they get a hold of large amounts, it will kill them. A pound of
chocolate will kill a 16-pound dog. If your dog does get into
chocolate, they will experience a heart attack, seizures, coma, and
death.
There are other things that you should not feed your dog because
they can produce harmful side effects. Like mushrooms can cause
abdominal pain, liver damage, and kidney damage. Garlic will cause
your dog to vomit and have stomach problems like diarrhea.
If you find your dog in anti-freeze, it will cause them to have
kidney failure. Some dogs tend to like the taste, so watch what
they lick up on the ground. The roots and leaves of fruit trees are
not good for your dog as well. A dog will take seizures if they get
a hold of any kind of moth or inspect repellants.
Many dogs are given table scraps and that isn't right. A dog
should only eat dog foot. You have no idea what your dog can have a
reaction from and the mess that they leave behind is not something
that you will want to clean up. Table scraps is another reason why
your dog could be over weight. The food that they consume is more
than what one dog can burn off. Even if your dog is hyperactive,
human food is not as healthy as the foods that are manufactured for
them.
When you are purchasing either dry or wet foods you will want
look for certain things. If they have dyes or other chemicals in
them, you will want to avoid purchasing such things. You will want
also want to get something without synthetic antioxidants because
they have been known to cause cancer.
Look to see if it contains a lot of sodium or salt. This can be
very upsetting to the dog's digestive system. If you start reading
the ingredients labels of your pet's food, you will be able to give
your dog the right nutrients that will help them live a happy and
full life.
